Noorderborg becomes partner of insurance collective Kral Westen

Rail operator Prorail will start work on more than 400 points of track maintenance next year. Eventually, this will make train passengers better off, but until the work is finished, there will be a lot of inconvenience. In fact, much more money is needed for the tracks to avoid 'German conditions,' ProRail believes.

Do you travel between Alphen aan den Rijn and Bodegraven? Then you will soon have to find an alternative for no less than nine months. And if you go by Voerendaal, you will have to travel another way for 40 days. It doesn't stop there. Because in addition to these projects, ProRail is working on the tracks in more than 400 places. Such as at Amsterdam Centraal, where work is still underway on railroad bridges, in Rotterdam (where ProRail is working on the train protection system), and the Maaslijn between Nijmegen and Roermond (which is being electrified).

But ProRail complains that much more money actually needs to go to our country's railroads. Now the emphasis is placed on ‘minimal’ maintenance, while money should go to ‘renewal,’ according to the rail operator. Then projects that have already begun could also be completed.
But shortages of money and technical staff mean that more and more parts of the track cannot be made ’future-ready,’ says the rail operator. It warns that we will all end up being more expensive this way.
Renewal
Top manager John Voppen of ProRail points here to the situation in Haarlem, where expansion and renewal projects will not go ahead for the time being because of a 60 million euro shortfall. And the same is true for numerous other projects. For example, more money is needed for the reconstruction of the HSL, where construction errors during the design and construction of the railroad line have allowed the High Speed Train (HSL) to travel much slower than intended on some stretches.
